동몽선습(童蒙先習)은 조선 중종 때 박세무가 지은, 우리나라 사람이 만든 첫 어린이 교과서입니다. 서당에서 천자문을 뗀 아이가 다음으로 배우던 책이지요. 오륜으로 사람의 도리를 세운 뒤, 중국과 우리나라의 역사를 훑어 끝맺습니다. 단군에서 시작해 삼국과 고려를 거쳐 조선에 이르는 뒷부분은, 서당의 아이가 처음 만나던 우리 역사이기도 했습니다.
Dongmongseonseup (1541) by Park Se-mu was the first primer for children written by a Korean. Students read it right after the Thousand Character Classic. It lays out the Five Relationships, then closes with a survey of Chinese and Korean history — from Dangun through the Three Kingdoms and Goryeo to Joseon.
