서당의 순서를 그대로 따릅니다. 습자로 새 글자를 손으로 익히고, 강독으로 원문을 소리 내어 읽으며 뜻을 새기고, 배강으로 책을 덮고 외워 바칩니다. 배강을 통과해야 다음 과가 열립니다.

Three steps, as in a traditional village school: writing the new characters by hand, reading the annotated original aloud, then reciting it from memory. Passing the recitation unlocks the next lesson.

자물쇠는 두 종류입니다. 앞 과를 아직 마치지 않아 잠긴 것이라면 그 과를 먼저 떼면 열립니다. 6과 이후가 잠긴 것이라면 평생 이용권이 필요합니다.

Two kinds. If it is simply the next lesson in sequence, finish the one before it. If it is lesson 6 or later, it requires the lifetime unlock.

잘못된 것이 아닙니다. 앞선 과에서 이미 나온 글자는 다시 세지 않는데, 논어에는 지지위지지(知之爲知之)처럼 짧고 되풀이가 많은 명구가 있어 새 글자가 한 자도 남지 않는 과가 몇 곳 생깁니다. 그런 과에서는 습자가 이미 배운 글자의 복습으로 채워집니다.

Nothing is wrong. Characters met in an earlier lesson are not counted again, and a few of the shorter, much-repeated sayings leave no new ones at all. Those lessons practise characters you have already learned.

한 과가 논어의 한 대목이라 그렇습니다. 짧은 한 마디로 끝나는 장이 있는가 하면, 문답이 길게 이어지는 장도 있습니다. 습자는 언제든 나갔다가 이어서 하실 수 있고, 익힌 글자는 그대로 남습니다.

Each lesson is one passage of the original — some are a single line, others a longer exchange. You can leave the writing practice at any point and pick it up where you left off.

시작점을 짚어 주는 안내를 따라 천천히 그어 보세요. 세 번 이어서 어긋나면 힌트를 보여 준 뒤 자동으로 넘어가므로, 한 획에 막혀 진도가 멈추는 일은 없습니다.

Follow the starting-point guide and draw slowly. After three misses the app shows a hint and moves on, so you will never be stuck on one stroke.

학당 홈 오른쪽 위 톱니바퀴 → 설정에서 발음 속도를 조절하고, 성독 음성을 여성과 남성 가운데 고릅니다. 속도는 훈음 발음과 원문 낭독에 함께 적용됩니다.

Tap the gear icon at the top right of the main screen. Speed applies to both the character readings and the recitation, and the recitation voice can be female or male.

서고의 성독 이어듣기는 화면을 꺼도 이어집니다. 잠금 화면에서 재생·정지·이전·다음을 조작할 수 있고, 다음에 열면 듣던 구절부터 이어집니다. 강독 화면의 낭독 버튼은 학습용이라 화면이 꺼지면 멈춥니다.

The continuous recitation in the library keeps playing with the screen off, with lock-screen controls, and resumes where you stopped. The read-aloud button inside a lesson is meant for study and stops when the screen turns off.

같은 Apple 계정으로 로그인하고 iCloud가 켜져 있으면 진도·복습·즐겨찾기가 이어집니다. 글자별 통계와 일별 활동 기록은 기기에만 남으므로 옮겨지지 않습니다.

Yes — progress, reviews, and bookmarks sync through your own iCloud when signed in to the same Apple Account. Per-character statistics and daily activity stay on the device and do not transfer.

설정 → 학습 기록 초기화. 기기의 기록과 iCloud에 올려 둔 기록이 함께 지워집니다. 되돌릴 수 없습니다.

Settings → Reset study data. This clears both the device records and the iCloud copy, and cannot be undone.

설정 → 매일 학습 알림을 켜고 시각을 정하시면 됩니다. 알림은 기기 안에서 예약되며, 알림 권한을 주지 않으셔도 앱의 다른 기능은 그대로 쓰실 수 있습니다.

Settings → Daily study reminder, then pick a time. Reminders are scheduled on the device; declining notification permission changes nothing else in the app.

아닙니다. 평생 이용권은 1회 결제이며 만료되지 않습니다. 정기 결제가 빠져나가지 않습니다.

No. The lifetime unlock is a one-time purchase that never expires. Nothing recurs.

Tap Restore Purchases on the unlock screen, or in Settings under Purchase. You must be signed in with the same Apple Account used for the purchase.

아닙니다. 논어는 스무 편에 오백 장 가까운 말이 실린 책이라, 이 앱은 그 가운데 116과 121구절, 원문 1,776자를 골라 엮은 선집입니다. 다만 학이편에서 요왈편까지 스무 편 가운데 한 편도 건너뛰지 않았고, 고른 구절은 편과 장의 차례를 그대로 지켜 배열했습니다. 앞에서부터 떼어 나가면 논어의 순서대로 읽게 됩니다. 본편 96과 뒤의 보유(補遺) 20과는 빠졌던 이름난 장을 다시 편 순서로 모은 것입니다. 남은 대목은 앞으로도 보유에 이어 채워 갈 계획입니다.

No. The Analects runs to nearly five hundred chapters across twenty books; this app is a selection — 121 passages across 116 lessons, 1,776 characters. No book is skipped, from Xue Er to Yao Yue, and the passages stay in the original order, so working through them follows the Analects in sequence. The last 20 lessons are a supplement gathering famous chapters the main 96 left out. More is planned.

한 글자가 자리에 따라 다르게 읽히는 다음자(多音字)입니다. 이를테면 樂은 대개 '락'으로 읽지만 요산요수(樂山樂水)에서는 '요'로 읽어 같은 구절 안에서 요수·요산과 낙이 함께 나옵니다. 食도 대개 '식'이지만 단사표음(簞食瓢飮)에서는 '사'로 읽습니다. 구절의 독음은 그 자리의 읽기를 따르고, 사전은 대표음을 보여 줍니다.

Some characters are read differently depending on context — 樂 is usually rak but is read yo in "the wise delight in water"; 食 is usually sik but sa in "a single bowl of rice". The passage reading follows the reading proper to that line, while the dictionary shows the standard one.

논어는 이천오백 년 전 사람의 말이라, 임금과 신하·아비와 자식의 자리를 말하는 신분 사회의 언어가 원문에 그대로 있습니다. 군군신신(君君臣臣)처럼 오늘의 정치 용어로 그대로 옮기기 어려운 대목도 있습니다. 지우지 않고 싣되 새김에 그것이 어느 시대의 말이었는지와 오늘 무엇으로 읽을 수 있는지를 함께 적어 두었습니다.

These are the words of someone who lived two and a half thousand years ago, spoken in the language of that society — ruler and minister, father and son. Nothing is removed; the commentary notes which age's words these were and what they can mean for a reader now.
